Laur
én Brady solo show in the Larson Exhibition Room explores the ethereal nature of memories. Slabs of color are layered onto each other and scrawled into. Objects and scenes are faintly visible in Brady’s work, as memories fade and become abstract, so too does Brady’s compositions. Her work is poetic and conveys a rawness abstract work is so good at doing.

Included in the exhibition is shelving filled with jars, moss, small paintings, and other personal objects that act as a physical remnant of the past, reminding Brady (and the viewer) of past events, significant or mundane. The act of deciphering these objects and imbuing them with our own meaning is an act of artistry in and of itself. One of these personal effects in particular is a piece of shingle from Brady’s childhood home.

Stay tuned for more info about Laur
én’s artist talk.
