Oil/Acrylic on saw blades
Quincy, MI
I have worked with all different forms of mediums, such as oil paint, watercolors, pencil and acrylic paint. The pieces that I currently have on display at EastEnd Gallery are realistic acrylic paintings on saw blades. Using saw blades to display a composition creates a new challenge to design that leads to interesting results, and imbues a sense of antiquity or history into the piece itself.
My paintings have been completed on hand saws, various sizes of circular saw blades, and on three to six feet long two handled saw blades. I love taking the old, rusty saw blades that I find at local sales and making them into something beautiful again. By sanding, putting into primer, and painting the blades, I feel like I’m telling a story with my art to give them new life and a greater purpose than just ending up in the trash due to their disrepair.
