Largely self-taught, Gary Bourassa experimentation in art started with Silverpoint drawing. The demands of silverpoint developed his sensitivity to line and depth in draughtsmanship. His appreciation of Medieval and Renaissance art inspired further research into obscure and arcane mediums and techniques. His is currently working with forms of egg tempera, calligraphy, charcoal, oil crayon, and oil painting in the areas of Book Illumination, Realism, Equine, and Figurative Art.
Gary has been a life-long resident of Michigan. He is a martial artist and has studied Ju Jitsu, Kung Fu, and is very accomplished in European Renaissance Swordsmanship.
