May 1st through end of June 2016
Closing reception June 23rd 5-8:30pm
Joyce Rupp’s fiber work is an example of the masterful levels of skill one can achieve through decades of quilting. Rupp is not merely a quilter, she is a fiber artist. The body of work currently being exhibited in our Larson show room is inspired largely by nature and the world around us.
Come see the work Rupp has produced over the years, including the various stitching patterns, fabrics, and embellishments she has utilized to create her artwork.
Joyce has learned from international teachers, and passes her quilting knowledge down to others. She has worked with textiles most of her life and has acquired a vast body of wisdom on the medium. She enjoys sharing this wisdom, as well as the idea of telling stories through the use of her quilts. “… I am also a gardener… you will find many plants and flowers in my work,” she says in her artist statement. The colors of nature inspire Joyce, and it is evident in her work. She adds, “The magic happens when the subject and the colors chosen from fabric and thread selection come together.”
